New year, new introductions!

I'm Annica (ah-nih-cuh)- the doula and birth photographer/videographer behind Sprout and Blossom. Here is a family photo of my hubby/partner Peter, 3-year-old Linden, and our new baby Rubin. 2020 was an eventful year for me, both for my family and my business.

To welcome baby Rubin, I took about 6 months off this year (a few months to ride out the first trimester, again at the end of my pregnancy, and for a maternity leave). The other 6 months of 2020, I attended 22 uniquely special births with wonderful families.
Obviously navigating a new normal because of COVID was a big part of 2020. But, despite how hard that was at times, I could not be more thankful for our family’s new addition and for the birthing women I had the privilege to walk alongside this year as they too brought babies into the world.
I’ll share more soon about Rubin’s birth story, but the short version is that it was super quick, intense, and somewhere halfway between a water birth and land birth. 😉

Speaking of new additions - Sprout and Blossom has also welcomed a new face to the team! I am so thrilled to have Shay on board as Sprout and Blossom’s new content creator.

My pandemic pod consists of my husband/partner Matt, our 10-month-old Evie (ee-vee), and our trusty pup Islay (eye-luh) -- who stayed by my side as I labored at home!

Through my journey to Evie, I've come to know firsthand what I had previously believed: Every birthing person deserves an informed and empowered experience, and your support team matters. I'm so thankful to have had Sprout and Blossom's very own Annica on mine!
